Hot Tip: The Value of Pieces


Traditionally a queen is worth nine pawns, a rook five pawns and a knight and bishop three pawns each.

This does not mean however that a knight is of the same value as a bishop since at the end game, bishops prove incredibly valuable to stop those pesky pawns from marching down the board.

The knight/bishop swap therefore should be thought about for a long time before taking it...
