Hot Tip: En Passant
One of the most confusing and overlooked rules of chess is the En Passant (in passing) rule.
A pawn(p.e. White) is on the fifth rank (horizontal row). If the oponent(p.e. Black) moves a pawn two squares passing the pawn on the fifth rank, the With pawn can take it (just as if Black had moved the pawn one square). This must be done on White's next move. He captures the pawn En Passant, or in passing. The Black pawn is removed, and White moves its pawn to the square Black would have been if he had moved one square.
