DIY Lesson: How To Make Canvas Prints From Your Cherished Photos

Cherished photographs of your loved ones, your pet, or anything you love most are best for canvases. But how are you going to make canvas prints on these photos? We will show you how to do it in this article.

Gather all the materials you need

For your materials, you need to have a printed photo, a canvas frame or panel, a Mod Podge glue or any variety you want, a sponge brush, a roller, acrylic paint, and a piece of extra canvas fabric. Purchase these items first at local stores within your area.

Editing and printing your photo

For your printed photo, you need to make sure that the size of the photo is similar to the size of your canvas panel. If you want your canvas print from photos to cover up to the side of the panel, then you should make the size of your photo more extensive than your panel.

Layout your photo on a photo editor to ensure that you get the right quality. You can crop it, resize, recolor it, and adjust its brightness and sharpness. Once you have done all of that, you can start printing your photo.

Putting all things together

Apply Mod Podge glue on the canvas. Stick the photo on the canvas panel and press it. Use the roller to remove all the wrinkles and bubbles. Then let it dry. Afterward, paint the side of the panel with dark colors like brown or black.

To add effect to your photo, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge on the surface of your photo. Put the piece of canvas fabric on it and gently press it. Then immediately remove the fabric. As the glue dries, you will see its unique effect. It will create a unique texture and style that would look like an authentic artwork.
